Q: Can I use your templates with the machine and frame I already have?
A: Generally speaking, if you can slide your fingers under your carriage to where there is enough room for them between your table top and your carriage- you can use templates. Some of the older frames such as the Grace may have templates in the back of the carriage. If you have a stylus that uses it that way then you can.

Q: Can I use my own stylus with Doodling Designs templates?
A: We recommend for best results you use our stylus or our adapter tips or pointers for a stylus if you already have one. The reason why is because the tip of our stylus is rounded and wider so it will nestle down into our rounded groove and you will have less slop than with a pointed stylus.

If you already have a stylus, then usually you can take out the pencil type pointer and we or can make one to fit it. Either that, or if your pointer is metal, then you can send it to us and we can put our point on the other end. When you are using our templates, you use one end, and if you use other templates, you turn it over and use the original end.

Q: How do Doodling Designs templates work?
A: You have a stylus that drops down into the groove of the pattern on the template, and then you lock down the stylus so it does not come out of that groove. Now you move your machine on the carriage and your stylus will only let your carriage go in the groove of the design. So whatever design you choose is what the machine is going to stitch.

Q: What is different about Doodling Designs templates?
A: The Doodling Design templates are made out of durable plastic that we have drawn a pattern on the computer and put into a computerized router to cut a groove of that pattern. What makes our templates different is that the groove is wider, deeper, and rounded on the bottom than most other templates. The templates also has rubber liner on the back of them to help keep the template in place.

Q: What size of templates does Doodling Designs offer?
A: We offer template designs that are cut into a 10” square, 2 foot by 7 ½” wide boards, and also 4 foot by 7 ½” boards. The 10” squares can have one large design – which are usually about a 9-9 ½” designs, it can have several smaller designs which are usually about 3 ½”, or it can have the same design repeated in the different sizes. These can be used to echo each other, but also are designed to give you the size that you need for all different sizes of blocks. The 2 and 4 foot templates have either one fancy design or at least 2 designs that are approximately 3 ½”.
